O Alphabots é um projeto da ONG Alpha Lumen e tem o objetivo de transformar jovens em líderes e inovadores no mundo da ciência e tecnologia. E o FIRST é uma competição internacional de robótica para alunos do ensino médio que descobre os futuros ícones da ciência.

Sobre o Instituto Alpha Lumen:

O Instituto Alpha Lumen – IAL é uma entidade sem fins lucrativos, sediada em São José dos Campos/SP que busca soluções de impacto social através de ações educativas. O IAL desenvolve projetos em várias frentes (Educação, STEM, Arte e Cultura, Empreendedorismo, Esporte, Sustentabilidade e Saúde, Relações Internacionais) todas conectadas com o Projeto Escola, que gera estruturas educacionais inovadoras e apoio ao ensino de estudantes com altas habilidades. O Projeto Escola, que inclui os ensinos Infantil, Fundamental e Médio, visa a formação de lideranças transformadoras e éticas entre jovens e crianças talentosas advindos fundamentalmente da escola pública e de baixa renda, capazes de refletir a construção da própria história, impactando positivamente o seu entorno e muitos, com potencial para se tornarem agentes disruptivos na sociedade, no Brasil e no mundo. Children who build robots in Brazil?
Yes, it is us, the Alphabots and we are going to FIRST in the United States. But for this we need your help.

Alphabots is a project of the NGO Alpha Lumen and aims to transform young people into leaders and innovators in the world of science and technology. And FIRST is an international robotics competition for high school students that uncovers future science icons.

Alpha Lumen, a non-profit organization that seeks solutions with high social impact through educational actions, has just launched Alphabots. Project aimed at high school, which aims to develop creativity and entrepreneurship in the competences of STEM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) area among students. The Project is a partnership between Alpha Lumen and team # 1860.

The Alphabot # 1860, is our robot. And it will be with him that we will travel to FIRST in Troy, New York to compete with the best in the world from March 6 to 9, 2019. Many say FIRST is the nerd's olympic. There are more than 25 types of awards, ranging from technical issues to the excitement of the fans. But the main prize is the Chairmans Awards, which recognizes the positive impact of the project on the community in which it is embedded.

"FIRST Robotic Competition goes far beyond robotics. It is a competition that seeks to transform society by enabling young people to have fun while learning essential concepts of science, technology and citizenship, "says Nuricel Aguilera, founder of Alpha Lumen. "In this tournament, the concern to help the community we live in comes first, and it is this collaborative attitude that we want to encourage."

What we need?

Team # 1860's participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition involves registration, documentation, airfare, lodging and meals costs of approximately R$5,000 per student.

"For the registration, $5,000 has already been raised, about 18,500 reais, through sponsorship via Grant by Novelis and Boeing," says Nuricel. "Alphabots # 1860 is looking for other companies for partnerships and launching collective funding to help with expenses."
