IAM: crianças que têm escola, têm escolha

Por isso nós da IAM oferecemos há 40 anos educação de qualidade em comunidades carentes em São Bernardo do Campo e Diadema. Agora chegou sua vez de fazer parte!

Nossas crianças precisam da sua contribuição para que continuem tendo o direito de ter os professores e a educação de qualidade que merecem. Com a sua colaboração, contrataremos para o próximo ano professores para formação de novas turmas de 4ª e 5º ano do ensino fundamental e daremos continuidade a todo nosso atendimento complementar. Todo esse trabalho depende do apoio de doações de pessoas, de empresas e da parceria com o poder público, o que nos deixa numa posição vulnerável, afinal, quando faltam doações ou quando os convênios acabam, temos que encontrar novas formas de conseguir recursos, pois o trabalho não para e novas turmas são inauguradas todos os anos.

Em 2018 montaremos 2 novas turmas, uma do 4º e uma do 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental, e daremos continuidade de todo atendimento complementar que inclui professores para as aulas de esportes, música, dança e artes, atendendo crianças entre 3 e 14 anos. Nossas crianças contam com você, participe!

Desde 1977 trabalhamos para melhorar a qualidade de vida das famílias e pessoas em situação de vulnerabilidade social e/ou econômica, priorizando crianças e adolescentes, residentes em comunidades carentes nos municípios de São Bernardo do Campo e Diadema. Todos os nossos programas desenvolvidos nas áreas de Assistência Social e Educação são totalmente gratuitos, sustentados por aproximadamente 100 funcionários e 350 voluntários. Atualmente atendemos mais de 300 crianças e adolescentes e 174 famílias.

A child in school is a child with choices – IAM

Instituição Assistencial Meimei needs you to help us ensure that our children are entitled to the teachers and quality education they deserve. Because educated children have choices, and therefore we build a better future to all.

For 40 years, Instituição Assistencial Meimei (www.iam.org.br) has been offering free school to children and teenagers who are socially and/or financially vulnerable and who reside in poor communities in the municipalities of São Bernardo do Campo and Diadema (São Paulo State). Its primary objective is to give opportunities to children’s, teenagers’ and their families and to offer them a better quality of life and the possibility of a future different from the hard reality they currently face.

At Instituição Assistencial Meimei children receive all the support they need - school materials, emotional and intellectual support, all free of charge, so they can develop skills:

IN 2017:

• School material - Every year, 193 kits containing notebook, pen and pencil are handed to students (we do not hand them textbooks).
• Basic Hygiene - Every year, 193 kits containing toothpaste, toothbrush, towel and mug are handed to students.
• 800 hours of kindergarten per child, yearly
• 1000 hours of elementary school per child, yearly
• 100 hours of complimentary activities per child, yearly
• 531 meals are served daily to all the children
• Dental and medical care are conducted monthly at the organization.
• School uniforms are distributed to all children, yearly.

All these, depend on donations made by individuals, companies and partnerships with the government, what makes us vulnerable. Because when we do not get donations and when the partnerships end, we have to figure out new ways to find the resources we need as we have to keep on providing school and care to the children and every year new classrooms/grades open.

With the donations received, we can ensure to hire teachers in 2018, for two new classrooms/grades - one for the 4th grade and the other, for the 5th grade of Elementary School. Moreover, we will continue providing in 2018, the complimentary services that include sports; music; dance and arts classes for children between the ages of 3 and 14.

Have in mind that now is the time to help:

• Children who, in 2017, are in the 3rd grade of Elementary Scholl need teachers for their 4th grade in 2018;
• As we will be able to hire new teachers, we will attend to those children who are waiting in line for the opening of a 5th grade class of Elementary school;
• We need teachers for the complimentary education. It makes a huge difference in these children's life: not only it allows parents to work full time, but it also reduces dramatically vulnerability rates for the children who are at risk. Without these complimentary school activities, many of them would be out on the streets, at least half of the day.

Taking part is easy, very easy.  Just three things you need to know:

1. Choose the amount you will donate. Here are suggestions of how much you can donate and what the amount will do for the children (on the side or right below) You can also choose donating any amount over R$10.00, just clicking on the button "I want to donate!", right on the (left or right)

2.   Choose how you are going to pay: bank deposit or credit card (you can choose to pay in up to 6 installments of a minimum of R$25.00 each)

3.    To thank you, we are offering symbolic rewards**, all of them made with lots of love. We are doing so, in order to save the money that would be spent in gifts and to reinvest it in

Money is spent in petty things, money spent over the weekends on things we do not even notice how it was spent; that money can make all the difference in the life of hundreds of children.

• R$40.00/US$12.35: It is how much you spend going to the movies in Brazil. This amount can pay for one day of dance classes for 33 children. Reward: Digital thank you from our children
• R$65.00/US$20.06: this is the amount you spend at the salon. Donating this amount, you pay for 1 month of complimentary activities for one child. Reward: Digital thank you from our children
• R$130.00/US$40.12: This is the amount you spend to have dinner out. Donating this amount, you pay for 44 days of Fundamental School classes for one child. Reward: Digital thank you from our children
• R$275.00/US$84.87: This is the amount you spend to buy a new watch or a new handbag. Donating this amount, you pay for 54 days of school - full time, one child. Reward: Digital thank you from our children + Donor's Digital Certificate
• R$600.00/US$185.18: This is the amount you spend on a weekend at the seaside. Donating this amount, you pay for 2 months of school - full time, for two children. Reward: Digital thank you from our children + Donor's Digital Certificate
• R$1,650.00/US$509.26: This is what you spend in upgrading your smartphone.  Donating this amount, you pay for complimentary activities for a whole month for 25 children. Reward: Digital thank you from our children + Donor's Digital Certificate + Thank you in our social networks
• R$3,500.00/US$1,080.24: This is what you pay for a vacation trip, shorter than a weeklong. Donating this amount, you pay for 1 month of school - full time, for 25 children. Reward: Digital thank you from our children + Donor's Digital Certificate + Thank you in our social networks

 The amounts are just examples (they exemplify what we can do with the amount you donate) and are based on the costs to hire teachers for the 4th and 5th grades of Fundamental School and to offer complimentary activities in 2018. They do not include or take into consideration, costs to maintain our social work, such as meals, cleaning, school material, other employees’ salaries and other costs.
