Salve o Rio Itapecuru

A vida começa na água. Dependemos dela para sustentar a vida. A nossa e de todas as espécies do planeta, sejam elas animais ou vegetais. O ciclo da água é um processo contínuo e fascinante, mas para que este ocorra é necessário que todos os atores estejam presentes. E este é o “x” da questão, estamos degradando nosso ambiente mais rápido do que ele consegue se recuperar, o rio Itapecuru é um exemplo. Dele dependem 54 municípios e cerca de 3 milhões de pessoas que, direta ou indiretamente, serão afetadas se não conseguirmos estancar a degradação que nele se instalou e iniciarmos ações para facilitar que a Terra possa iniciar seu processo de cura. Nosso projeto propõe ações para diagnosticar de forma precisa as reais condições da bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapecuru e iniciarmos um trabalho de educação ambiental com fins de desenvolvermos uma consciência ambiental no principal ator deste processo de degradação, o homem. 

Life begins in the water. We depend on it to sustain life. Ours and all species on the planet, are they animals or vegetables. The water cycle is a continuous and fascinating process, but for this to occur it is necessary for all actors to be present and aware of their role in this system. And this is the "x" of the issue, we are degrading our environment faster than it manages to recover and the Itapecuru River is an example. Something needs to be done, we cannot expect the state to manifest itself.

In this sense we are developing an Environmental Education project to be applied in the Itapecuru river basin, Maranhão, Brazil. The Itapecuru River composes one of the three river basins of the state and, like the other basins, Mearim and Pindaré, is in an advanced state of degradation. About 3 million lives directly depend on this basin, whether for water supply, navigation, agriculture or livestock, but also for the need to maintain the biomes and the continuity of life. The continuity of the degradation process will lead in a fateful way to the drought of one of the largest rivers in Brazil, with a length of 1,440 km, resulting in critical changes of the microclimate along the river channel and, consequently, in the climate of the entire river basin .

This work includes a project distributed in 5 steps: 1 - Collection of technical and bibliographic data from state, federal and municipal agencies, such as IBAMA, SEMA, City Halls, CPTEC, INMET, CODEVASF, among others. 2 - Will consist of the application of a closed and open questionnaire to the communities, industries and agribusiness installed within the scope of the project, in order to diagnose the interviewees' perspective on the relevance of the river to their life and their enterprises. 3 - Will cover the field survey through data collection through aerial imaging with drones and acquisition of satellite images, as well as collection of water, soil and plant and animal species (fish and other aquatic organisms) for laboratory analysis. 4 - Will consist of the treatment of all the information collected and the diagnosis. 5 - Will consist of the presentation of this diagnosis in all municipalities of the basin of Itapecuru River in the form of itinerant cinema and educational booklets to be distributed in municipal, state and federal schools, colleges, companies and agribusiness and worked from the second semester of 2019 and throughout the year 2020.

The execution period of the present work will be of 18 months, counted from February of 2018, conditioned to reach the minimum value of collection of donations for the project, in the amount of R $ 1,500,000.00. The donations will be received exclusively through the WWW.KICKANTE.COM.BR website, and will only be passed to our control if we reach or exceed the value of the project. If we cannot reach it, the amounts received in donation will be reverted to the donors, free of charge or deductions. We have until the date of January 20, 2018 to meet our goal.
